Jackalope

Jackalope is a layout project and small storybook that focuses on the tall tales of the American Wild West.

Traditionally tall tales are a form of oral storytelling and my goal was to rewrite each story in a text format that interacts with illustrated layouts.

I grew up in the Black Hills hearing most of these tales firsthand around a campfire. All of the stories within Jackalope have been researched and rewritten by myself. In a printed format the book is small enough to fit within a camping bag.

Classic folklore stories like Paul Bunyan are featured alongside pieces from Native American mythology, honoring the very first storytellers in the Americas.
